Love Is Not An Option

Have you ever wondered why Jesus commanded us to live by love? It’s because He desires for us to succeed and be blessed—spirit, soul and body. And He knows love is the primary key to that success.

If we actually understood the blessing that walking in love brings, we wouldn’t be so willing to abandon it when we encounter pressure or aggravation. If we knew, for example, that becoming fretful or resentful was going to cost us a great, supernatural revelation, we might be more apt to set those unloving attitudes aside.  “What does love have to do with spiritual revelation?” you ask.  Plenty! Read Colossians 2:2 and you can see for yourself how closely they are tied together. But the benefits of love don’t stop with wisdom and revelation. They also include divine power. Jesus said in John 14:21 that He will manifest Himself to the person who walks in love.

I think this verse in John is very interesting, especially in light of how eager we are to have Jesus manifest Himself among us in power. We long for Him to reveal Himself by signs and wonders and miracles. And, surely, as the time of His Second Coming draws closer, those signs and wonders must come in greater manifestation.

But do you know where they will manifest in greatest power? Among the people who are living and walking in love. That’s what happened in the book of Acts. God poured out His Spirit in mighty power at Pentecost with tongues of fire and the sound of a mighty, rushing wind, not upon people who were squabbling and arguing with one another, but among people who “continued with one accord” (Acts 1:14).

He shook the building and filled every believer with the Holy Ghost and boldness— not when the Church was fussing and working up denominational splits, but when they were “of one heart and of one soul” (Acts 4:32).  Need power in your life today? Need harmony in your family, in your marriage and among your children? Then walk in love. Walk in love at all costs… walk in love and decide that for your life, love is a command, not an option.

Take it or Leave it

You can’t depend on someone else’s faith. You must let God build your faith. As He is doing it, He’s preparing you to receive even bigger and better things. He’s preparing you to be a channel for Him to use to help others take what their faith is expecting.

You see, God uses people! So, while none of us can depend on someone else’s faith, we all do have a connection of faith. It’s a connection that will speak God’s Word to me when I know someone is in need, to “love your neighbor as yourself.”  Remember, faith works by love…out of a loving heart!  Love fuels faith in our own lives and in the lives of people God brings across our path. “When we stand praying,” Jesus said, “forgive.” Why? Because that’s what love does.  When we understand and believe that God’s ultimate purpose in our having faith in Him is to bless someone else, then nothing is impossible. When our faith “takes” all God has to give, we can be the next person to whom He can say, “OK, you’ve got it, now give some of it away!”

Nothing is better than living by faith in God! He will never run out of the stuff His people need and desire. When we see that His plan is to use each of us to be a participant in His blessing, why would we want to leave anything on the table?  Starting today, put your faith on something you need or desire according to God’s Word, then ask for more! Look around you: Someone out there needs it, too. They are using their faith and asking Him. And He is going to use you to give to them—to help their faith take it! It’s a great plan, a great reason to take everything God has to give us—so we can be part of all He is doing. And He gets the praise and glory for it all!

God – The Open Book

God never has and never will do anything apart from His Word. That’s an eternal, everlasting fact. It cannot be changed. Yet, we act as though that isn’t true when we try everything we can think of to get hold of God. We cry, we pray, we fast – we do all sorts of things. But we don’t stop and realize that the …Word – the written Word of God – is just as much God as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are God. – Kenneth Copeland

Will it be good? Will it be hard? The answer to both questions is “Yes!”

For some, it will be the best they’ve ever had. For most, it will be more of the same—only more intense. Jesus has the answers, and it’s good news for anyone who will seek and follow Him all the way through.

And that’s what this service was about: what’s coming and how to prepare for it!

Seek God First by Gloria Copeland

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
– Matthew 6:33

Whenever Ken and I talk about living by faith, I know there are some people who think, “Oh, that’s easy for you. You’re preachers. You have it made!” And, in some ways, we do. We have it made because our calling demands that we give God our attention, and giving God your attention always brings success.

gloria-copeland.jpgBut we haven’t always lived that way. In fact, the first time I ever saw Kenneth Copeland he was about as far from a preacher as I figured you could get. He flew planes and sang in nightclubs. As for me, I was a college girl who said she would never marry a preacher and who had never even heard about the new birth.

Right after we got married, Ken went into a business enterprise that we thought was going to make us rich. So I quit my job and went to work for this new company. Two weeks later it folded.

We ended up sleeping on a rented roll-away bed that sagged in the middle. We had a wrought-iron coffee table Ken made in high school and a black and white TV. Nothing else. No refrigerator. No stove. I cooked in my coffee pot and an electric skillet and used a cardboard box on the porch to keep our food cold.

We were flat broke. Unemployed. Deeply in debt. I had nowhere to go. No furniture. No nothing.

Then one day I picked up the Bible Ken’s mother had given him for his birthday. In the front she’d written this verse, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” I turned and read Matthew 6. It said God cared for the birds. For the first time in my life it got into my heart that God cared where I was and what I was doing. I figured if He cared for birds, He cared for me! I knelt in that bare room and told Jesus that if He could do anything with my life, He could certainly have it. That’s all I remember saying.

I had no idea I’d just been born again. Two weeks later Ken found a new job. We moved to a new furnished apartment and bought a better car. In the midst of it all, something else happened–Ken got born again.

Don’t worry if you don’t “have it made.” We certainly didn’t when all this started. Just stick with God and let Him make you. He is a good God who is good to all (Ps. 145:9).

Make a decision in your heart to seek HIM first. Then all the other things will be added.

Thanksgiving and Praise

thanksgiving.jpg

The Bible says if you pray according to God’s will, you know He hears you and you have the petitions you desired of Him (I John 5:14-15). God’s Word is His will.

God is faithful. His Word can be relied on. Don’t wait until you can see the manifestation before you believe you have it. That will put you over into an area of waiting and hoping. If you believe you receive when you pray, begin to praise God for the answer.

Faith involves thanksgiving and praise. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Thanksgiving and praise are integral parts of prayer.

You and God are working together. It is your prayer and His power.

Praise is more than just words. There is power in it. God did not ordain praise just so we could brag on Him. Psalms 8:1-2 says, “O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.” Jesus quoted this verse of scripture and said, “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise” (Matthew 21:16). Strength and praise are the same according to the Word of God. God ordained praise to stop Satan in his tracks.

Once you have believed that you received because of the Word, your faith is in action. Through praise, you are throwing your faith up against that mountain of adversity in your life. Jesus said if you have faith and doubt not, you can speak to the mountain and it will be removed. You will have what you say. If you quit applying the force of faith, the mountain will not be removed. You want the mountain to keep moving until it sinks into the sea and is completely out of sight! Apply the force of faith by praising God that it is gone!

The only way Satan can stop you and your faith is through unbelief. He does not have power to stop God. He cannot stop that mountain from moving into the sea. The only way he can succeed is to make you quit applying the pressure.

The mountain may be sickness, disease, alcohol, family trouble, financial trouble or any evil work. Jesus bought and paid for the answer to all of it. You cannot face any problem that has not been taken care of through Calvary’s Cross.

The psalmist David said, “I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence” (Psalms 9:1-3). He did not say if. He said when the enemies fall back! As you praise God, those enemies will retreat. The Bible says He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3).

Praise is not something you just feel once in a while. God is worthy of your praise. The Bible says to offer the sacrifice of praise. What did Israel do in the Old Testament when they had problems they could not overcome? The priest would offer sacrifices to God to bring Him on the scene and God would stop the onslaught of the enemy. As a new covenant believer, you are a priest of God. No other sacrifice can be offered. Jesus offered the ultimate blood sacrifice. As a priest, you offer the sacrifice of praise. Hebrews 13:15 says, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

In Luke 17, Jesus ministered to 10 men who had leprosy. They said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed” (verses 13-14). Verse 15 says, “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified [praised] God.” They were all cleansed. But only one praised God unashamedly. Jesus said, “Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine?” Then He said to the man, “…Thy faith hath made thee whole” (verse 19). The others were cleansed but he was made whole! His faith kept working. His mountain did not stop at the seashore or sink halfway into the sea! No trace of his mountain was left. Whatever the disease had destroyed was restored.

That is the kind of power you can have right now in your own life. If you are not familiar with praising God, or it makes you feel uncomfortable, ask God to show you how. You can start by reading the Psalms aloud. They speak of the great and mighty works of God. They praise Him for His goodness, power and mercy. God is faithful to perfect your praises!

Happy Thanksgiving from Kenneth Copeland Ministries!

It’s Time To Thrive, George Pearsons

pastor-george-pearsons-eagle-mountain-international-churchAt the 2009 Copeland Family Meeting, a new Kenneth Copeland Ministries event, George Pearsons shared a message titled “It’s Time To Thrive, Not Just Survive.” In the clip below he starts his message with a declaration of faith.

“It is my time to thrive not just survive. I am not moved by what I see. I am not moved by what I hear. I’m not going under. I’m going up higher. It is time to thrive. We are prospering, flourishing, succeeding, advancing, and increasing. I may be in this world, but I am not of it. I am separated from the curse, joined to the blessing.”

Pastor George Pearsons, the pastor of Eagle Mountain International Church on the grounds of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, then goes on to discuss the difference between surviving and thriving. He says that surviving is just “one step above dead.” In other words, it means to just barely get by. In contrast, Pastor Pearsons gives the meaning of the word thrive. In the greek thrive means to prosper, flourish, and succeed.

Check out the video clip of Pastor George Pearsons’ message at the 2009 Copeland Family Meeting or watch it on Blip.tv.
