No Time to Faint

Article by Gloria CopelandThis is the day of adversity! Whatever you are facing today, you can’t afford to be weak. You can’t afford to faint spiritually in the trials of life.   If you do, you’ll be in trouble because, naturally speaking, things aren’t going to get better in this world, they’re going to get worse.  But don’t let that scare you. For 1 John 5:4 tells us that “whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

Did you know you can become just as strong as you want to be by spending time in the Word? The only one who can put limits on you is you. If you’ll give the Word more time, it will give you more strength.   That’s what wise believers do. They keep themselves strong by spending time in the Word every day. They stay strong and ready because they know this is an evil day we live in.  Wake yourself up to the Word by getting out your Bible and meditating on it every day. Get tapes and books of anointed men and women preaching the Word. Listen to them and read them again and again.

Keep that Word in your heart. Keep it going in your eyes and in your ears until it takes over the very thoughts that you think.  Keep yourself strong and ready…and free to operate in the Spirit of God.  If you do, when adversity strikes, you’ll have supernatural strength to overcome and walk in the victory. Remember, this is no time to faint.

Protecting Your Fountain of Youth

I ’m amazed at how often people claim to have discovered the “fountain of youth.” Month after month, year after year, magazine covers and book jackets tout the latest and greatest longevity secrets. Scientists come up with genetic keys, and nutritionists proclaim the one…or two…or seven foods that guarantee long, healthy lives to those who eat them. Fitness experts invent exercise plans that promise to keep us young, slim and agile at any age.    |    Although good nutrition and exercise really do help, no one has yet come up with a guaranteed life- lengthening, youth-renewing plan that provides people in their 80s, 90s, hundreds and beyond the strength and
vitality of people half their age.    |    No one, that is, except Moses.

His secret for long, strong life, echoed throughout the Bible, is the only one that really works. He proved it beyond any doubt by staying youthful to the ripe old age of 120. Moses practiced what he preached. Despite his rugged life in the wilderness and his potentially high-stress job of leading a million-plus cantankerous, unbelieving people to the Promised Land, he tapped in to a fountain of youth that kept him young year after year, decade after decade. He found a source of life-renewing power that kept him sharp-eyed and physically strong 20 years beyond the century mark.
What was Moses’ secret? What was the force that kept him going so strong for so long?

It wasn’t a particular gene. It wasn’t a certain kind of food (although I’m sure manna was perfect). It wasn’t some kind of super-duper exercise program (though the Israelites’ walking program was exceptional)! It was the living Word of Almighty God. It was the Word Moses received on Mount Sinai in the midst of the fire of God’s glory, the Word he believed and obeyed (with one rock-striking exception) from the time he was 80 until his mission was finished 40 years later. It was the Word of God that prolonged Moses’ days.

The Word from God was his life. It protected him, preserved him, and kept him going… and going…and going.

The Power To Change

With all the change going on in the world today, it’s time for Christians to make an impact in the earth. But to walk in the kind of world-changing power necessary to impact our communities, our nation and the world, we must allow the Holy Spirit to change us.

What do we need to empower us to change? Sure, we need knowledge, but knowledge alone isn’t enough. We need the power of God that effects change. Take weight loss, for example. We all know how to lose weight: move more, eat less. But how many are actually doing it? To be truly free from the bondage of weight we have to allow the Holy Spirit to change and empower us to go higher—spirit, soul and body.

Change is deep within the purpose of why God created us. The power to change is within His glory—His presence. A revelation of His glory, of His honor and of the power of His love is enough to change anything. That’s what we need if we are to change.

We are from God. He created us in His image, so we come out of Him, just like natural children come out of their parents and are a combination of their DNA. When we wonder, How do I get God to help me change? we are forgetting that we were created out of Him. We were predestined before the earth was ever created to be like Him. His power is in us.

Love Is Not An Option

Have you ever wondered why Jesus commanded us to live by love? It’s because He desires for us to succeed and be blessed—spirit, soul and body. And He knows love is the primary key to that success.

If we actually understood the blessing that walking in love brings, we wouldn’t be so willing to abandon it when we encounter pressure or aggravation. If we knew, for example, that becoming fretful or resentful was going to cost us a great, supernatural revelation, we might be more apt to set those unloving attitudes aside.  “What does love have to do with spiritual revelation?” you ask.  Plenty! Read Colossians 2:2 and you can see for yourself how closely they are tied together. But the benefits of love don’t stop with wisdom and revelation. They also include divine power. Jesus said in John 14:21 that He will manifest Himself to the person who walks in love.

I think this verse in John is very interesting, especially in light of how eager we are to have Jesus manifest Himself among us in power. We long for Him to reveal Himself by signs and wonders and miracles. And, surely, as the time of His Second Coming draws closer, those signs and wonders must come in greater manifestation.

But do you know where they will manifest in greatest power? Among the people who are living and walking in love. That’s what happened in the book of Acts. God poured out His Spirit in mighty power at Pentecost with tongues of fire and the sound of a mighty, rushing wind, not upon people who were squabbling and arguing with one another, but among people who “continued with one accord” (Acts 1:14).

He shook the building and filled every believer with the Holy Ghost and boldness— not when the Church was fussing and working up denominational splits, but when they were “of one heart and of one soul” (Acts 4:32).  Need power in your life today? Need harmony in your family, in your marriage and among your children? Then walk in love. Walk in love at all costs… walk in love and decide that for your life, love is a command, not an option.

Take it or Leave it

You can’t depend on someone else’s faith. You must let God build your faith. As He is doing it, He’s preparing you to receive even bigger and better things. He’s preparing you to be a channel for Him to use to help others take what their faith is expecting.

You see, God uses people! So, while none of us can depend on someone else’s faith, we all do have a connection of faith. It’s a connection that will speak God’s Word to me when I know someone is in need, to “love your neighbor as yourself.”  Remember, faith works by love…out of a loving heart!  Love fuels faith in our own lives and in the lives of people God brings across our path. “When we stand praying,” Jesus said, “forgive.” Why? Because that’s what love does.  When we understand and believe that God’s ultimate purpose in our having faith in Him is to bless someone else, then nothing is impossible. When our faith “takes” all God has to give, we can be the next person to whom He can say, “OK, you’ve got it, now give some of it away!”

Nothing is better than living by faith in God! He will never run out of the stuff His people need and desire. When we see that His plan is to use each of us to be a participant in His blessing, why would we want to leave anything on the table?  Starting today, put your faith on something you need or desire according to God’s Word, then ask for more! Look around you: Someone out there needs it, too. They are using their faith and asking Him. And He is going to use you to give to them—to help their faith take it! It’s a great plan, a great reason to take everything God has to give us—so we can be part of all He is doing. And He gets the praise and glory for it all!

You Have Hope!

You may be in the deepest hole of your life. But if the Word says you have hope, then, glory to God, you have hope!

You may think your circumstances are tearing you apart, but I have news for you. Your circumstances are not the problem! All circumstances, I don’t care what they are, must bow their knee and submit to the Name of Jesus and the Word of God when faith, hope and love are brought to bear on them.

When circumstances are very bad, get your Bible and some teaching tapes and go off by yourself until you stop negative thoughts from bombarding your mind. Gloria and I have done that many, many times. Years ago, we did that where our children were concerned. It was obvious from the circumstances that the devil was after them and the pressure was getting worse and worse.

Finally, we decided to deal with the situation head-on. We spent time piled up in the middle of the bed with our Bibles and our notebooks, looking up every scripture we could find about children. We wrote them all down, prayed over them and made an irrevocable declaration.

We said, “On the basis of the promises of God and by the blood of Jesus, our children are not going to hell. The Word of God says our children are taught of the Lord and great is their peace, and that settles it forever.”

Then, no matter what happened, we stood our ground in the Name of Jesus. To keep from wavering, we had to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalted itself against the Word God had given us about our children. We had to bring all our thoughts into captivity and into obedience to that Word. All our thoughts!

“Well, I try to do that, but sometimes I just can’t help what I think.”

You most certainly can. God’s Word says you can (Philippians 4:8). God’s Word tells you to choose what you think, and cast down what you shouldn’t think. When you do that, hope will have a place to work. In fact, if you’ll guard your mind, there will come a moment when hope suddenly rises up. Add to that, faith and the love of God, and complete the transaction in the realm of the spirit. Suddenly, that hole you are in won’t be deep at all. You can walk right out.

When that happens, you’ll suddenly know that what you’re hoping for is yours. It’s yours and all the demons of hell can’t keep you from receiving it. You’ll find yourself saying, “It’s done! It’s mine, glory to God!”

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…. – Hebrews 6:19

Our Great Salvation

“ARE YOU SAVED” Ask a believer that question and he’ll answer with a quick, “Yes!” But ask him if he knows exactly what he’s been saved from and you may run into some confusion. Most of us realize that we’ve been saved from spiritual death, snatched from a hell-bound train. We know our salva- tion has changed our final destination. But what many of us don’t realize is that we don’t have to simply sit around until then, spiritual suitcases in hand, waiting to die and go to glory.

God intended for us to begin our trip to heaven the moment we were born again. And sin should be the first territory we leave behind. That’s because God has given us His very own righteousness and authority. It is part of our great salvation.

Christians are discovering that we have authority in the Name of Jesus to resist sickness, disease, poverty, demons and fear. The Scripture says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). But before we can effectively resist the devil, we must first submit to God and obey Him.

Seek God First by Gloria Copeland

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
– Matthew 6:33

Whenever Ken and I talk about living by faith, I know there are some people who think, “Oh, that’s easy for you. You’re preachers. You have it made!” And, in some ways, we do. We have it made because our calling demands that we give God our attention, and giving God your attention always brings success.

gloria-copeland.jpgBut we haven’t always lived that way. In fact, the first time I ever saw Kenneth Copeland he was about as far from a preacher as I figured you could get. He flew planes and sang in nightclubs. As for me, I was a college girl who said she would never marry a preacher and who had never even heard about the new birth.

Right after we got married, Ken went into a business enterprise that we thought was going to make us rich. So I quit my job and went to work for this new company. Two weeks later it folded.

We ended up sleeping on a rented roll-away bed that sagged in the middle. We had a wrought-iron coffee table Ken made in high school and a black and white TV. Nothing else. No refrigerator. No stove. I cooked in my coffee pot and an electric skillet and used a cardboard box on the porch to keep our food cold.

We were flat broke. Unemployed. Deeply in debt. I had nowhere to go. No furniture. No nothing.

Then one day I picked up the Bible Ken’s mother had given him for his birthday. In the front she’d written this verse, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” I turned and read Matthew 6. It said God cared for the birds. For the first time in my life it got into my heart that God cared where I was and what I was doing. I figured if He cared for birds, He cared for me! I knelt in that bare room and told Jesus that if He could do anything with my life, He could certainly have it. That’s all I remember saying.

I had no idea I’d just been born again. Two weeks later Ken found a new job. We moved to a new furnished apartment and bought a better car. In the midst of it all, something else happened–Ken got born again.

Don’t worry if you don’t “have it made.” We certainly didn’t when all this started. Just stick with God and let Him make you. He is a good God who is good to all (Ps. 145:9).

Make a decision in your heart to seek HIM first. Then all the other things will be added.
