6 Lies That Block Blessings

6 Lies That Block Blessing by Gloria Copeland

God expects us to lay hold of what belongs to us, but we have an enemy who lies to us and tries to stop us from receiving God’s biggest blessings.

Jerry Savelle calls them “blessing blockers.”

Many of these obstacles to God’s best in our lives fall under the category described in Mark 7:13: The tradition of men makes the Word of God of no effect. Traditions are demonic error-really lies-to keep the Church in the dark. For years traditional ideas and interpretations of Scripture have kept people from receiving healing.

So I’d like to expose some of those lies of the enemy and explain why they are wrong. As we go through them, make a note of any that have become part of your thinking. Then replace those lies with what the Word really says.

Lie #1: “Miracles have passed away.”

I grew up in a church in which we frequently heard statements like these: “Miracles have passed away” and “Healing has passed away.” But the truth is that in order for miracles and healing to pass away, God would have to change or pass away. And that can’t happen. He has already declared, “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6).

He has also said, “I am the Lord that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26). Sickness and disease were never God’s will for man. Sickness only came when man disobeyed God, sinned and died spiritually. At that point man became subject to the evil one. But even then, God made a way to provide healing for His people. If He ever healed anyone, He is still that same healer today. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). But we have to do our part and give Him something to work  with by exercising our faith.

Lie #2: “God gets glory from sickness.”

Sickness doesn’t bring glory to God. Healing does.

As Jesus healed the multitudes, Matthew 15:31 says, “When they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see…they glorified the God of Israel.”

Lie #3 – “All things work together for good…”

A scripture that is often taken out of context and misunderstood is Romans 8:28: “All things work together for good to them that love God.” If you believe this means sickness is somehow for your good, you won’t resist it. But the Bible is very plain in what it says about sickness. The curse spelled out in Deuteronomy 28 includes “every sickness, and every plague” (verse 61).

Curses do not come from God. He is good to everyone (Psalm 145:9). Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

When you read Romans 8:28 in context, its meaning becomes clear:

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:26-28).

This is not saying everything that comes along is working for your good. This is about those who love God. Those who love God obey His Word: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous” (1 John 5:3). When we obey God we enjoy the blessing of God.

The will of God is always good, but not everyone is in the will of God. This scripture is talking about the things of the Spirit working for our good. The Spirit makes intercession on our behalf when we pray in the spirit. When we obey God all things work together for good.

Everything that comes your way does not come from God and does not bring good into your life. You have the authority in you to obey or disobey. For instance, cancer does not work for your good. Car wrecks do not work for your good. They come to steal, kill and destroy. If you think these things come from God you will receive them instead of resist them.

Lie #4: “God puts sickness on you to teach you something.”

Sickness is not good. So when people say, “God puts sickness on you to teach you something,” that is totally unscriptural. The Bible says God uses His Word to teach us. He has sent the Holy Spirit to teach us. In Deuteronomy 28 God says if you don’t obey Me, all these curses will come on you. That’s not the will of God. God’s will is your redemption from the curse in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:13). Through ignorance, unbelief or rebellion and disobedience, we open the door to evil in our lives.

According to 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

God sent the Holy Spirit to be the teacher of the Church (John 14:26). He will guide you into all truth (John 16:13). God also placed teachers in the Church to instruct us (Ephesians 4:11-12). Therefore, He doesn’t use sickness to do that.

Many believers labor under the misconception that whatever happens to them is God’s doing. As a result, they take no responsibility for anything and put up no resistance to the enemy when he brings sickness and disease.

If you don’t resist sickness, it won’t go away. The enemy will continue to rule and reign in your life. You must resist the devil if you don’t want him to live with you. James 4:7 says resist him, and he will flee.

Jesus delivered people from sickness everywhere He went, and He rebuked it! He was never a friend of sickness and disease. He always did the will of God and you never saw Jesus instructing anyone to stay sick.

Lie #5 – “Lord, if it be Thy will…”

A traditional prayer that will help you die young is “Lord, if it be Thy will, heal my body.” Consequently, praying this shows you have not been reading your Bible, and you don’t have a clue about God or His will. It’s always His will to heal.

Perhaps you’ve been going to the wrong church. You should come out of a church service with your faith more built up than when you went in. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). But if you don’t hear and believe what the Word says, your faith won’t be strong.

Lie #6: Unbelief is “OK.”

Even Jesus couldn’t heal those who were in unbelief. In His hometown of Nazareth, “he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief” (Matthew 13:58).

Unbelief is the major blessing blocker, and that’s why it’s imperative for you to know what the Word says and believe it enough to act on it. All the traditions I’m talking about are the result of unbelief.

Unbelief comes by hearing just like faith comes by hearing. So, it’s dangerous to your health to listen to unbelief.

There is no good reason to sit under teaching that’s full of unbelief if you desire to live and live well. Go where the uncompromised Word of God is being taught because your life depends on it.

Galatians 3:11 says, “The just shall live by faith.” That means believers are to live by believing what the Bible says. You are healed by believing and acting on what the Word says about your healing. It takes believing and acting to fulfill the word receive!

These are just some of the lies the devil uses to stop us from receiving all God has for us. Don’t buy the lies…believe God’s Word! Below is prayer you can pray and ask God to give you wisdom concerning His will and plan for you!

Developing Faith in the Father’s Love

by Kenneth Copeland

“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge….”

Ephesians 3:16-19

In this day and hour, we as God’s people, are taking our rightful position…dedicating ourselves to God, renewing our minds with the Word, setting ourselves apart from the carnal ways of the world, committing ourselves to walk in the love of God.

God has promised us the knowledge of His love. First John 4:16 says, “We have known and believed the love that God hath to us.” Believing that love is acting on it and putting it into operation. When we do, we reach out into areas that pass human knowledge.

Again, Ephesians 3:17 says, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.”

We are to be rooted and grounded in the love of God. In His parable of the sower, Jesus said that those sown on stony ground had no root in themselves (Mark 4:15-17). They heard the Word with gladness, but when persecution and affliction came for the Word’s sake, they were offended. They didn’t respond in the love of God. They responded in the natural realm and Satan stole all the Word that was in them. They were not rooted in love.

God is declaring unto you and me that we can have a comprehensive revelation of His love—its height, its depth, its width and its breadth. To know His love is to know God because He is love. God is telling us: “I’ll teach you all there is to know about Me.” He has been wanting, since the beginning of time, to share Himself with us—not part, but all! Think about that! God is offering you and me understanding of the height, depth, width and breadth of Himself. It’s almost unbelievable, but it is true.

God has a spiritual capsule and this capsule goes into effect when you get into the Word and allow God to minister to you. God will, by His Spirit, build that capsule around you and protect you from all that is happening in the outside world. If you will walk in the Word, you can be protected at all times and the wicked one will not be able to touch you. That capsule is the shield of faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Faith works by love. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:16 that faith quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked one—not part of them, all of them. The first time I heard Brother Kenneth Hagin say this, I was thrilled! He spoke to satan and said, “Satan, my household is off limits to you.” Then he put a sign in the world of the spirit that said, “Off limits, satan. This means you!” Glory to God! I had always thought satan held the key to my back door and could come and go as he pleased. Then I found out my authority as a believer.

Developing Faith in the Father’s Love

You might ask, “How do you know when your faith is developed in a certain area?” The same rules apply to the development of faith in every area of life. Faith is faith in any Bible subject—whether it is the new birth, the infilling of the Holy Ghost, right-standing with God, divine health, divine prosperity or some other area. It is the same spiritual substance. It works the same in every situation. To develop your faith in the Father’s love, put these 4 principles into practice:

1. Put the Word first place.

Don’t be moved by feelings. To develop your faith in Father’s love, or in anything else from God, you have to learn what the Word says about it. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God(Romans 10:17). For instance, Psalm 23:6 says,“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Put that Word first place. Don’t ever go by how you feel about the love of God. Don’t confess anything else. Be confident in the fact that God’s mercy and goodness follow you all the days of your life. You should read the book of 1 John over and over on a regular basis.

2. Meditate on the Scriptures concerning God’s love.

Meditation develops the capacity for faith in the Father’s love. As you meditate on God’s Word and your capacity begins to grow, you recognize the power God’s love can have in your life. Then the things of Satan will begin to shrink and lose their grip over you, as you realize the fullness of God’s Word.

3. Act on the Word concerning the love of God.

First John 4:11-12 says, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.” By practicing this love on one another, the love of God is perfected in us.

The word perfected means “allowed to run its full course.” You can let God’s love run its full course in your life. Love never fails. Here we are reaching for that “zero failure rate.” It is possible, and it will come to pass! How are we going to do it? Not by becoming perfect ourselves, but by acting on the Word of God and allowing the Father’s love, which is perfect, to run its full course in our lives. Even though we make mistakes, that love force will be there to prevent failure.

4. Decide to live the love life.

Make the quality decision to live by love. To develop your faith in divine healing, you have to make the decision to be well, or you never will be healed. A quality decision is a necessity in learning to live the love life.

What is a quality decision? A decision from which there is no retreat. It simply means this: “With God in heaven as my helper, He that is within me is greater than he that is in the world. I refuse to allow anything to hinder me from walking in love. I make the quality decision to walk the love walk, whether anyone else does or not.”

It is a necessity that we renew our minds to the supernatural power of the Father’s love. We must develop our faith and renew our minds so that we respond in love without having to think about it. We must learn to live in love, walk in love, talk in love and edify one another in love. Then when the pressures come, when the hard times come, when disasters approach us, we won’t have to stop and think. We will immediately react in love.

The secret to successfully combat satan is to retaliate in the spirit, not in the natural. The love walk is 100 percent in the spiritual realm. This is where God wants the Body of Christ to walk. By developing our faith in the love of God, it will work and bring about that “zero failure rate.”

Now say this: “O God in heaven, I commit myself today to develop my faith in the love of God. I commit myself to Your Word, to be pleasing unto You—to walk in love, even as Jesus walked. I make the quality decision now to walk in love, talk in love, think in love and respond to all things in love. I renounce selfishness in the Name of Jesus. It has no part in me. I am born of love, so I will walk in love!”

The Power of the Father’s Love

By walking in God’s love, you release a force to work in your behalf—a force that has all the appearance of weakness but is stronger than any force in existence. To walk in love is to step aside and allow the power of the universe to come between you and the situation you are dealing with.

Romans 8:37 says, “Nay….” In other words, “No, you are not a lamb for the slaughter.” It says, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors.” You are more than a conqueror! It is one thing to conquer; it is another thing entirely to conquer and occupy! Praise God!

You are one spirit with the Lord. Glory to God! He paid the price, so you wouldn’t have to. You didn’t have to go to the Cross; He went for you.

You are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you—through the power of that love. There is an unseen power that goes into operation when a person is developed in the love of God and knows how to walk in it. When the world starts to run over you because you appear to be weak, they will run into the unseen power. It’s all around you. It’s in you—ever ready for whatever comes. God wants you to be full of the Word and use His Name without fear. It is yours to use, and God will back you with His power just like He said He would.

One of the most outstanding examples of the power of God’s love was manifested during Jesus’ ministry. In John 8, Jesus was confronted by some Jews as He was teaching in the temple. His words were so forceful in the face of their traditional thinking that they were angered. John 8:59 says, “Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.”

Jesus just turned around and walked through the midst of the crowd. They were trying to stone Him and He walked off! They couldn’t even see Him! This verse says He hid Himself. He was protected by an invisible shield—the love of God.

I have known men who walked in that kind of protection, and I have walked in it myself from time to time. It is the protective shield of God’s love that every believer can walk in, but very few know how. Jesus said, “Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:14). But thank God for the few who do! And I have made up my mind to be one of those!

To walk in love is to walk in the very highest spiritual realm there is. Jesus walked in that realm. We have seen it operate in His earthly ministry. Another example of the power of God’s love is found in Acts 7. It is the story of Stephen as he stands before the high priest, accused of blasphemy. Acts 6:5 describes him as “a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost.”It says in verse 8, “Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.”

Stephen preached the gospel as his defense and his accusers were outraged:

When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord. And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep (Acts 7:54-60).

Stephen was demonstrating the love of God. He said the one thing Jesus said at Calvary: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Stephen showed he had the same capacity to love as Jesus. The love of God was perfected in his life. He imitated Jesus.

How did Stephen learn? By waiting on tables. By serving people.Through Stephen and his ministry, great miracles were done. Where were they done? Among the people.

First John 5:1, 4-5 says, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” God is love and we are born of love. Every born-again believer on the face of this earth is a world-overcomer. He is not in the process of overcoming the world; he is a world-overcomer. You can be a world-overcomer and never overcome. You can be a rich man and starve to death. You are a creature with a will and a choice. You may never realize it in your own life, but as far as God is concerned, you have already overcome.

Let’s read Romans 5:3-5, “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

We definitely know we have the same capacity to love as Jesus does because it is the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Think about that. The love of God is shed abroad in your heart. God’s love is in you because He is in you. You are born of Him. You have been made one spirit with the Lord. What is that spirit? The Holy Spirit. Who is He? He is compassion and mercy and love.

Rooted and Grounded in Love

First John 2:5 says, “Whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected.”

There are two ways to perfect the love of God in your life—by keeping the Word of God, and by practicing love on others.

Love takes practice and we can practice on each other. You won’t operate perfectly in love at the very beginning; but as you keep at it, you will get better and better. If you fail, just simply confess it as sin, receive your forgiveness, and go on. Keep loving. Keep overlooking the shortcomings of others and look for Jesus in them!

5 Ways to Stay Stress-Free This Christmas

Don’t let the holidays stress you out! You can stay stress-free this Christmas with these by tips by Gloria Copeland.

Work pressures. Family commitments. Church outreaches. Your children’s extra-curricular activities. Christmas shopping. Holiday events and dinners. All of these things are well and good. They may even be God-ordained, but if you find yourself feeling the effects of too many commitments, then it’s time to de-stress your life. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Don’t let stress keep you from having an abundant life. Implement these five steps and get your life moving in the right direction!

# 1 – De-stress Your Life by Making Time for the Word

Sounds counter-productive, doesn’t it? You believe you don’t have enough time to accomplish everything on your to-do list, but in reality, the only way to truly de-stress your life is to get God’s perspective on it.

Just like gas in a car, the Word fuels your life. Without it, you’ll coast along for a while, but eventually, you’ll run out of gas. Life will begin to feel overwhelming. So spend time in the Word daily. Let it correct you as you meditate on it and act as though it is true—because it is!

#2 – De-stress Your Life by Recognizing the Work of the Enemy

There will always be unexpected developments in your day—a last minute meeting at work, snacks that you promised (but forgot!) to bring to your grandson’s Little League game, a clothes dryer that suddenly quits. That’s life. But there are other times when the devil deliberately attacks you. As you spend time in the Word, you’ll be able to recognize those attacks for what they are. When he attacks, resist him and he will flee (James 4:7).

#3 – De-stress Your Life by Protecting Your Mind

There are stressors all around you—the media professing doom and gloom, movies and television shows proclaiming ungodly values, even family members who have embraced secular psychology. With all of that unbelief swirling around you, you must make the quality decision to protect your mind and heart (Proverbs 4:20-23). That means turning off the television, connecting with strong, godly friends and protecting your Bible study time.

#4 – De-stress Your Life by Caring for Your Physical Body

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19-20). If you have let exercise slide because you are too busy to do it, then you open the door to attacks from the enemy. Care for your body by meditating on healing scriptures, feeding it healthy food and exercising each day.

#5 – De-stress Your Life by Cutting the Extras

Most likely, if you are battling constant stress, then there are too many things vying for your attention. You must determine which things in your life God has given you to do and which things you have added on your own. Press into God for help in determining what it is that He has directed you to do, and then do that first. Everything else is subject to being cut from your schedule.

Jesus died so that you could live an overcoming life. In John 14:27, He said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” Don’t let stress steal your peace and joy. Commit to making time for the Word, recognizing the enemy’s attacks, protecting your mind, caring for your body and cutting the extra things that demand your attention. As you press into the Lord for what you should do each and every day, He will help you de-stress and enjoy your life!

Should You Turn Your Light On This Halloween?

Halloween Night: Should you participate? Read More >>

Whether to participate in Halloween activities has been a big debate among Christians. As believers, we have nothing to fear when the Holy Spirit is our guide. What does He have to say about this issue?

by Riley Stephenson, KCM Minister of Evangelism

The Bible tells us not to “copy the behavior and customs of this world” (Romans 12:2, New Living Translation). But this verse should not be an excuse for us to shut the door on the world. We also need to let our light shine—especially on the darkest day of the year! My family learned this important lesson a long time ago.

For years my wife, Kim, and I would not turn on our porch light at Halloween. When persistent trick-or-treaters knocked on our door anyway, our family ignored them. We would not let our girls carve pumpkins or color Halloween artwork at school or go trick-or-treating.

Then, one year, the Lord spoke this scripture to our family: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16, New King James Version). We realized that God wanted us to reach out to our neighbors on Halloween night. So we changed our MO! We bought good candy, not the cheap stuff—you know, the kind that has bubble gum in it that loses its flavor as soon as you put it in your mouth. We got chocolate bars! And we began to minister the love of God to those who were participating in Halloween. We handed out candy to our neighborhood kids, gave them tracts, and asked them if we could pray with them about anything.

Halloween is a great time for us to get to know our neighbors. Streets are packed with parents and children. Paul said it this way: “When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings” (1 Corinthians 9:22–23, NLT).

As Christians, we walk every day in the burden-removing, yoke-destroying power of God (see Isaiah 10:27). If we close our door on our neighbors at Halloween, if we “turn our lights off,” we miss a big opportunity to remove burdens and destroy yokes from other people’s lives.

My family’s outreach began with just us. Later, we started taking friends with us to the streets of our community to share the love of Christ at Halloween. Over time, the ministry grew.

One church in Athens, Ohio, found out about what we were doing on Halloween. They invited me and my ministry team to come minister at the nation’s largest Halloween block party, which takes place in their city every year. Annually, this block party draws about 80,000 college-age kids, who come out to drink and party on Halloween night. In 2009, we started taking teams to the event to share the gospel with young people. Since then, thousands have received Jesus as Lord and Savior on the darkest day of the year.

Another church, this one in Roscoe, Illinois, whose pastor is a friend of mine, uses Halloween as their biggest outreach of the year. They bring carnival rides in and provide free popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy. They clear out their sanctuary and set up games for the kids, and then they present a gospel skit. Every year at least 5,000 people attend this event. A lot of people in the community don’t even offer candy for trick-or-treating—they send people to my friend’s church instead!

I’m not saying that we should dress up as the devil and participate in dark activities. We should dress normally when we minister on Halloween night. When people see us loving, rather than judging the people who go to haunted houses or go trick-or-treating, the Bible says they will begin to glorify the heavenly Father. We should be a light in the darkness.

The Bible says that “God is love” (1 John 4:8). When we begin to look like love, talk like love and act like love, God who is love will manifest Himself through us, spreading His light to a lost and dying world. I pray that this Halloween you will open up your door and turn on your light to harvest souls for God’s kingdom.

How to Approach God with any Problem

How to Approach God with Any Problem

by Kenneth Copeland

Have you ever come up against some problem and you didn’t know where to find help? Maybe you’ve made mistakes and bad decisions, and now you’re in way over your head. Or perhaps you were going through life doing all you knew to do and from nowhere, a problem seemed to jump you from behind. Or possibly you’re just so frustrated and confused about the state of current events that you don’t even know what to do. That’s when you have to know how to approach God, and approaching Him starts with setting our faith on Jesus.

Set Your Faith On Jesus

If we set our faith on Jesus, we won’t faint when the world around us gets darker. We won’t be wearied by all the problems it’s throwing at us. We’ll tap into the wisdom of our heavenly Father and find out everything we need to know about how to finish running our race.

“But Brother Copeland,” you might say, “I’ve made some major mistakes in my life. I’ve gotten so far off course I can’t even figure out what race I’m supposed to be running.”

Then don’t try to figure it out. Just act on James 1:5-6. It says: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.”

According to those verses, even if the problems you’re facing are problems you created yourself, God won’t “upbraid” or find fault with you when you ask Him to help you solve them. He won’t punish you by withholding the answers you need.

You could be sprawled on the floor of a jail cell, locked up because of a crime you committed, and if you repented and asked God for wisdom He’d immediately start helping you. In spite of all the mess you made to get there, He’d start telling you how to handle the situation, how to give Him glory in it, and how to get out of there.

God is for you, not against you! You can ask Him for anything you need. Just be sure to ask in faith.

Forgive Anyone Who’s Wronged You

Jesus said in Mark 11, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them…. And when ye stand praying, forgive…” (verses 24-25). So when you pray for wisdom for how to handle a situation or what to do with a problem, believe the wisdom you need is yours the instant you pray for it. Say out loud, “God promised me His wisdom and I receive it now. From this point on, I declare it’s mine. I say I have it, and I’ll keep saying it no matter how I feel or how much pressure the devil puts on me to say something else.”

Then, finish up your prayer by forgiving anyone who’s wronged you. That’s vital. If you don’t forgive, your faith won’t work, because faith works by love (Galatians 5:6), and love forgives.

This is how we as believers were born to live!

We weren’t created to worry about all the bad news in the world and let problems consume our focus. We were created to walk in God’s wisdom and love, and tell people the good news about Jesus. What He’s doing is the real story these days. So stay focused on Him. Wake up every morning expecting Him to say things to you that you’ve never heard before. Spend time with Him in the Word, expecting Him to show you things you’ve never seen before.

Jesus will give you the answer to every problem. No matter what happens in this complicated world, you can approach God with any problem, and He will answer you.

How to Stand Against the Devil

How to Stand Against the Devil by Kenneth & Gloria Copeland

by Kenneth & Gloria Copeland

One of the devil’s favorite pastimes is telling believers how big their problems are. He does it all the time. It seems he’s always trying to discourage us about one thing or another. But next time he tries it on you, here’s a thought that will encourage you: The devil is actually the one with the problem!

What’s Wrong With the Devil Anyway?

by Gloria Copeland

He has a problem that’s not only massive, unlike the temporary difficulties you may be facing, his is permanent and getting worse every day.

Just think about the situation he is in right now. Because of what Jesus accomplished 2,000 years ago through His life, death and resurrection, the kingdom of darkness has been utterly defeated. Jesus has stripped Satan of the authority he stole from Adam in the Garden of Eden and taken back everything that was lost to mankind through sin.

As 1 John 3:8 says: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

The word destroy means “to ruin; to bring to naught; to spoil completely as to destroy a government.” In other words, Jesus reduced Satan to zero. He took away from him everything he’d gained through the Fall of Man and left him with no legal rights and no power.

None.

As if that wasn’t humiliating enough, Jesus made things even worse for the devil by instituting the new birth. He made it possible for people like you and me, who were once held captive and contaminated by sin, to become new creatures in Christ. Jesus made us His joint heirs and gave us His power and authority. He put Satan and all his demonic hosts under our feet and said: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

I’m sure the devil wishes that verse wasn’t in the Bible. He’d like you to think he only has to flee from Jesus. But that’s not true. The Bible makes it clear, the devil has to flee from you. Why? Because you have Jesus living on the inside of you and, as 1 John 4:4 says, “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Talk about big problems! Satan has no power of his own left to use against you. The only way he can get any foothold in your life at all, is by deceiving you into using your own power against yourself. And he can only do that by getting you to believe what he says instead of what God’s Word says.

If you refuse to buy his lies, if you find out what the Word says, believe it and act on it, Satan can’t stand before you any more than he stood before Jesus. When you resist him in the Name of Jesus, he has to run from you, as one translation says, as if in terror! Because you have the right and the position to use the Name, Satan has to do what you say.

So take solace knowing that the devil is the one with the problem… the big, big problem. It’ll put you on a path to overcoming everything the devil throws your way!

3 Ways to Stand Against the Devil

By Kenneth Copeland

All through history, Satan has tried to sidetrack the Body of Christ and take its attention off of what God is doing in the earth. It’s a diversionary tactic whose sole purpose is to stop the move of God. It’s time for every Christian to stand against the devil and all his mischief and take their rightful place.

In Matthew 24:4-6, Jesus warned us that we would face difficult times. He said: “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled.” How do we keep from falling prey to it? How do we keep from falling into the fear and deception Jesus warned us about? Here are three steps for taking a solid and successful stand against the devil:

#1 Stand Against the Devil by Understanding the Score

You must come to the complete and absolute decision that you are the victor. The victory is yours and the battle is the Lord’s. You must settle that within yourself.

Do whatever you have to do to get that into your spirit. Stay in the Word; take Communion every 30 minutes if necessary; fellowship with the Lord until confidence in Him rises up within you and chases out every thought of failure and defeat.

#2 Stand Against the Devil by Proclaiming Psalm 91

The second thing we need to do to stand against Satan’s traps is to speak out loud about the deliverance of the Lord. Psalm 91 says, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver [me]….”

Notice that scripture says, I’ll say it and then, in response to what I’ve said, He will deliver me.

That’s not just some super-spiritual idea either. It works. I know one soldier who, during World War II, survived a bombing raid by huddling underneath a bunk bed shouting out Psalm 91. By the time that raid was over, the bombs had destroyed the building he was in and everything in it, except that one little bed sitting right out in the middle of the room.

You can do the same thing that soldier did. Take hold of that 91st Psalm. Say it to yourself so often that you know it by heart.

#3 Stand Against the Devil by Praying for the “Bad” Guys

The third thing that will help you stand against the devil is this: Follow the rules of faith. In 1 Timothy 2:1-2 the Holy Spirit instructs us to offer “first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks…for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority.” That means we’re to pray not only for the good guys, but for the bad guys too.

If we’re going to successfully fight this fight of faith, we’re going to have to obey God’s guidelines. We can’t jump up and start ranting and raving about that person who is coming up against us.

Instead, do what Proverbs 4:23 says and protect your heart against foolishness like that “with all diligence.” I don’t care how you feel about it. I don’t care if your flesh rears up and gets mad. Put it back down and fight that battle in the heavenlies. Fight it with prayer and the Word and keep your faith strong by guarding yourself against hate.

No matter howmuch you try to ignore it…or how despairingly you cry about it, Satan will attack you. But don’t let him succeed in his attack. Instead, settle the victory in your heart. Speak out the delivering power of the Lord and follow the rules of faith. You will surely stand strong again the devil and see the salvation of God!
