How to Get Rid of Poverty for Good!

How to Get Rid of Poverty for Good!

You can live blessed and prosperous!

by Kenneth Copeland

In the 1960s, the United States government launched a war on poverty. It was officially declared by President Lyndon Johnson, and at the time it must have seemed like a good idea to many people—both Democrats and Republicans. There was just one problem: Poverty was not a war the American government, or any other government in the world, could win.

Today, the percentage of people living in poverty in this nation is almost identical to what it was in the ’60s because poverty isn’t a financial problem. It’s a spiritual problem. It can’t be solved by politics or conquered by man-made programs.

You can throw all the money you want at it and you won’t get rid of it. In fact, you’re likely to make it worse because the devil is the driving force behind it, and he uses money as leverage and power. He’s figured out that if he can get people to look to something other than God to meet their needs (he doesn’t care if it’s welfare or Wall Street) he can control them…and control is what the devil is all about.

That’s the reason God doesn’t want His people to be financially dependent on anything or anyone in this fallen world order. He doesn’t want you looking to the government as the source of your prosperity. He doesn’t want you looking to your rich Uncle Charlie. God doesn’t even want you looking to the company where you work.

God wants you to be dependent only upon Him, because only He can set you free from the devil’s control and prosper you—regardless of what’s happening in the world’s economy.

My Parent’s Story

My parents found this out in the 1930s during the Great Depression. The economy was miserable all over the nation back then, but in West Texas where they lived, it was particularly bad. In those days, West Texas was a hard place to make a living—even when times were good. The primary source of revenue was dirt farming and no one had any irrigation. Even a minor drought could cause major problems. So you can imagine what it was like from 1931 to 1941 when hardly any rain fell there at all.

During those 10 years the Texas Panhandle, along with Oklahoma and New Mexico, became the great Dust Bowl. Sandstorms got so bad that people died in them. Their lungs got full of dust and they couldn’t breathe. If that wasn’t enough, job opportunities—which had already been scarce—dried up as well and people left in droves.

Mama and Daddy didn’t know much about divine prosperity in those days but they loved the Lord. They knew He was their Source, so in their wedding vows they committed to tithe on every dime they made for the rest of their lives.

All through the Depression my dad was never without a job for more than a day. If one job played out, he and my mother would catch hands and pray for another one. “I’d stand at the door and watch him go down the road until he was completely out of sight,” my mother told me. “Then I’d go about my chores all day just praising and worshiping God.”

Every time, in less than 24 hours my father would find employment. God would direct him, show him where to go and get him jobs—good ones—when there weren’t any to be found. Talk about winning a war on poverty! In the worst times the country has ever seen, while others were looking to the government or someone else in the world to meet their needs, my parents looked to God, kept tithing and were blessed.

What’s Giving Got to Do With It?

Poverty is not an issue for the government to solve. How do I know this? Because the U.S. government has been trying to solve it since the 1960s, and the poverty rates are pretty much the same. Remember my parents’ story. They lived through the Great Depression in the heart of the Dust Bowl, and yet, they never went without. Now, I’m going to show you what the Word of God says about poverty and giving.

“Well, Brother Copeland, I’m glad things worked out so well for your parents, but surely you don’t think everyone should follow their example. Surely you’re not suggesting that God wants people who are genuinely poor to be givers.”

No, I’m not suggesting it. I’m saying it outright because it’s in the Bible. Luke 6:38 says to both rich and poor alike, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

The devil is the one who came up with the idea that a poor man shouldn’t be expected to give. It’s the way he keeps poor people poor. God wants everyone to tithe and give offerings so He can make them rich.

Jesus proved this by the way He responded to the destitute widow when she gave her offering at the Temple. Because He always did the will of His Father, if God didn’t want poor people to give, Jesus would have objected when that widow threw her last two pennies in the offering bucket. He would have said something like, “Hold on there, sweetheart. God doesn’t need your money. There are plenty of rich people around here to finance His work. You just keep those two pennies for yourself because you’re going to need them.”

But Jesus didn’t say any such thing. Instead, he blessed her offering and called it the biggest one in the bucket. He told His disciples: “Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ‘I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.’” (Mark 12:43-44).

One of the things I’m looking forward to when I get to heaven and they open the archives of Church history, is finding out what ultimately happened to that widow. She probably became a rich real-estate tycoon and ended up as one of the biggest givers in the early New Testament Church. What makes me think so?

She tapped into the revelation Paul preached to the believers in Macedonia! A deeply impoverished bunch, those saints actually had to beg Paul to let them contribute to the offering he was receiving for another group of believers. When Paul agreed to accept their gifts, God revealed this to him: “He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully…for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8, KJV, emphasis mine).

According to The Amplified Bible, having all sufficiency in all things means “possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation.” I believe that’s what the widow expected to receive from God in return for her giving, and that’s what she got.

“But the New Testament hadn’t been written when the widow gave her two pennies!” you might say. “How did she know what God would do for her?”

She had plenty of Old Testament scriptures to base her faith on. Verses such as:

  • “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.” (Proverbs 11:24-25, New King James Version)
  • “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” (Malachi 3:10)
  • “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10)

Personally, I’m persuaded this widow had so much faith in those verses that she was more than just willing to give, she was determined to give. I think she marched up to the offering bucket with such an attitude of defiant confidence no one would have dared try to stop her.

She was probably a lot like the poor widow Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho encountered at his church in Korea some years ago. As he tells it, she came forward during offering time carrying her rice bowl and boldly put it on the altar. Dr. Cho knew that rice bowl could mean the difference between eating and starving for someone as poor as she was, so he tried to give it back to her.

“Who do you think you are to interfere with my offering?” she said. “This rice bowl is mine, and I’ll do with it whatever God tells me.”

As Dr. Cho stepped aside, properly chastened by her rebuke (“I needed it!” he said later), a wealthy man in the congregation jumped out of his seat and ran up to the woman. He’d been watching her, and through her giving she’d taught him something that changed his life. “The Lord just told me to pay you $35,000 for that rice bowl,” he said to her.

“OK,” she replied.

In an instant, that woman went from poverty to wealth.

“But Brother Copeland,” you might say, “what if the rich man hadn’t obeyed? How would God have prospered such a poor woman? It’s not like He can dump resources out of heaven.”

Yes, He can! Haven’t you ever heard about the manna the Israelites ate in the wilderness? God dumped enough of it out of heaven to feed two and a half million people every day. He doesn’t have to depend on this earth for resources. He has all spiritual resources in heavenly places at His disposal—and if He needs more, He can create them.

God’s Will For You

Poverty does not have to be a fact of life for you and your family. You can live blessed and prosperous. Don’t miss this truth: God does not want you poor and miserable. He wants you blessed.

Understand, God is rich, rich, rich…and if you are born again, as a joint heir with Christ, all His resources belong to you. This isn’t just religion; it’s New Testament reality! When Jesus went to the cross, He totally defeated poverty on your behalf once and for all. As 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.”

Notice that verse doesn’t say He did it so you would just have your needs met. It says He became poor so that you might be rich! What’s more, 2 Corinthians 9:8 tells us how such a thing is possible. It says: “God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]” (AMP).

This is God’s will for you! He doesn’t want you having to go to the government for finances. God doesn’t want you having to borrow money from the bank. He Himself wants to supply you with more than enough for every good work, so that when the pastor announces, “We’re going to build a new church building,” you don’t have to say, “I can only give a little.” You can say, “I’ll pay for the north wing.”

Sadly, most believers can’t even imagine such a thing. They look at themselves, their background, their educational level or whatever, and think it would be impossible. But nothing is too hard for God. He is able to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20, KJV). The only reason we think things are too hard for God is because they’re too hard for us.

Let’s get rid of such thinking. Let’s renew our mind to the point where we go to God first concerning our finances. We don’t go to the bank first, and Uncle Charlie second, and then to Grandma who tells us we should pray about it. No! Prayer should be the place where we start. We’re children of Almighty God and He owns everything in heaven and earth. We’re joint heirs with Jesus and He has been appointed heir of all those things. In Christ, we’re not just guardians of God’s vast resources, we’re co-owners. How can someone who’s joint owner of the entire universe be worried about paying the rent?

That doesn’t even make sense!

I’ll tell you what does make sense, though. It makes sense for you and me and every other believer to have all sufficiency in all things. It makes sense for us to abound, not just enough to pay our bills but to do every good work.

This is has always been the heart of God: “He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes…” (1 Samuel 2:8). That’s something that, try as they may, the governments in this fallen world order can’t do. It’s up to us as the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ to receive the resources God has made available to us and launch a war on poverty that’s the real thing. It’s up to us to take a stand on the victory Jesus has already won and put that poverty spirit where it belongs—under our feet!

KCM Supports International Fellowship of Christian Jews

Anytime you give a gift to Kenneth Copeland Ministries, a tithe is taken from your seed and is sown again into various ministries across the world. It’s because of your faithful seeds sown into our ministry that you are also partnering with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (The Fellowship) and impacting the nation of Israel with the love of Christ.

In 1983, Rabbi Eckstein founded The Fellowship from an extraordinary God-given vision: build bridges of healing and reconciliation across the gap of hostility and misunderstanding that separated Jews and Christians for more than 2,000 years.

Today, The Fellowship is the largest Christian-supported humanitarian non-profit working in Israel.

Not only are they providing resources and continuing to bridge relationships between Christians and Jews, but The Fellowship also provides humanitarian aid for the elderly, the children and the most vulnerable living in Israel as well as Jews living in other parts of the world.

Watch the video above and join us as we pray over the Jewish people. As it says in Psalm 122:6, let’s pray for peace in Jerusalem and intercede for the Jews across the world.

VICTORY network–Another Available Voice!

When the Lord commissioned Kenneth and Gloria Copeland to preach His Word on “every available voice” nearly 50 years ago, the internet wasn’t even a thought.

Back then, radio and television where the quickest ways to spread the gospel, and television was still in its infant stages at that.

These were the available voices.

Today, with the advancement of technology, there are more voices now than ever! Not only do we have traditional outlets like TV, magazine, radio, etc., but we also have the internet, streaming TV, internet radio, podcasting, social media and more.

We’ve seen an integration of television, computers and the internet that have made it possible for Christian broadcasting to be available nearly anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This is an exciting time in which we live!

Late last year, KCM launched VICTORY network [formerly Believer’s Voice of Victory Network (BVOVN)] on Dish® Network Channel 265, Roku®, Apple TV® and at bvovn.com, delivering the uncompromised Word of God seven days a week, around the clock. The network, which has a potential of reaching more than 14 million households, features world-class ministers renowned for teaching solid faith principles from the Word of God.

In the first half of 2016, the network attracted an astounding 65,932 regular viewers through its KCM Roku channel, and an additional 9,365 viewers on the VICTORY Roku channel. Additionally, more viewers are watching BVOVN courtesy of such streaming devices as Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV. Live streaming of VICTORY is also available on YouTube from any streaming device.

KCM continues to take advantage of every opportunity, utilizing whatever voice available, to carry the Word of God around the world—from the top, to the bottom and all the way around—in order to reach the world with the message that Jesus Is Lord!

How to Receive Miracles

by Kenneth Copeland

“Ye shall receive power….” That’s what Jesus said to the early disciples. And all you have to do is scan the book of Acts to see how dramatically His words were fulfilled. Miracles occurred.

The first-century Church electrified the world around them. They healed the sick, raised the dead and cast out demons. The power of God so surrounded the Apostle Peter that members of his community actually dragged their sick into the street in hopes his shadow would fall on them as he passed.

                        “Ye shall receive power….”

Jesus has made that promise to us too. To you and to me—to everyone who believes on Him. He has sent us out to carry on the miraculous work He and the early Church began.

But somewhere along the way, there’s been a power failure.

For years we’ve tried to sweep it under our religious rug. We’ve given excuses. We’ve explained it away by saying the age of miracles is past. We’ve tried to cover up our lack of power with plans and programs and activities.

But today more and more believers are facing the problem head-on. More and more are daring to ask the question that’s been secretly on our minds for years.

Where’s the power?

It’s a crucial question. And, praise God, the more we ask it, the more we’re beginning to see there is an answer—one that can set the Church on her feet again. An answer that, once we grasp it and apply it, will give us the ability not only to be victorious in our own lives, but to electrify the world around us with the glorious power of God.

This is important because the world needs Christians to exhibit the love and the power of God in the earth, just as Jesus did and just as the apostles did. To look at this, we’re going to study John 14. This is an important and powerful passage. We see Jesus at one of the most critical points of His ministry.

He is about to go to the Cross, and He’s taking His last real opportunity to talk with the members of His staff before His death. He has little time left to get across to them all they need to know.

There’s an urgency in His voice, a seriousness about the moment that must have arrested the attention of His disciples as never before. He is about to put His miraculous ministry into their hands. He is about to give them the keys to His power.

Here are just a few of the things Jesus said. Read them carefully. They are tremendously important.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him (John 14:12-15, 21).

In those last precious hours before the cross, Jesus spoke to His disciples about supernatural power. He told them they would soon be able to have whatever they asked for in prayer. He told them He was about to make so much power available to them they’d not only be able to do the miraculous signs and wonders He’d done, they’d be able to do even greater things.

And what’s more, He told them exactly how to keep that power operating in their lives. He gave them a three-part power package that will work for us as surely as it worked for those first disciples. And it is a package that can provide a sure solution to the supernatural power failure so many believers are facing today, one I want you to discover so that you can receive miracles in your life and in the lives of those around you.

The Three-Part Power Package

Jesus said, “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” But I don’t want to begin there. The reason is simple. When believing for a miracle, most believers try to use that part without the other two and they fall flat on their spiritual faces. So, let’s look first at this verse: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

Most of us know that scripture well. But few realize it is one of the precious keys without which we can never unlock the power of God and receive miracles.

When Jesus said, “Keep my commandments,” He wasn’t just encouraging His disciples to be good. He was letting them know that if they wanted the power to receive whatever they asked for in prayer, if they wanted the power to work wonders as He did, they were going to have to meet some conditions. They were going to have to do the things He’d commanded them to do.

In short, He was saying, “Boys, there’s power in My Name. And if you’ll keep My commandments, that Name will get you anything you ask for. But if you don’t keep My commandments, My Name won’t work for you.”

And the same thing is true for us today. If we will keep the commandments of Jesus, His Name will release tremendous, miracle-working power when we say it. If we don’t, it won’t. It’s that simple. Jesus drove that point home again and again. In John 15:7, He said: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

And again, in verse 10: “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”

And in verse 14: “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”

To get a better grasp of what Jesus is talking about in all these verses, go back and take another look at verse 7: “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you….”

That word abide is so important. You see, when Jesus told us to obey His commandments and keep His Word, He wasn’t just telling us to follow a bunch of religious rules and regulations.

He was telling us to allow His Word—which is a living thing—to make its home within us. He was telling us to spend time with it, to meditate on it, to fill our minds and our mouths with it, and to let it guide our every action.

The Apostle Paul put it this way, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (Colossians 3:16).

Most believers don’t have any idea what that means. And that’s one of the reasons they’re so short on power and receiving miracles. One man who did know what it means, however, was Brother Oral Roberts. And he once said something to me about it that I’ll never forget. He said that when the Word is really abiding in you, when it’s alive and producing like it should, you can hear it.

And he’s right! When you begin spending quality time in the Word of God, you’ll begin to hear it down inside you.

#1 – Getting the Word Ingrained In You

You know when you get a song on your mind and you just keep hearing it over and over inside you? You may be busy doing something else and still that song will just play on. That’s what happens when you start letting the Word abide in you.

Many times I’ve been in desperate situations wondering what I was going to do, when suddenly I’d hear a scripture down on the inside of me. I’d hear verses from some Bible tape I’d been listening to. And suddenly, I’d know exactly what the answer to my situation was. I’d be delivered by the Word of God that was dwelling in me.

“Oh, but Brother Copeland,” you might say, “how on earth am I ever going to be able to remember all those verses? How am I going to be able to think of them when I need them?”

Jesus Himself answered that question. He said: “The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).

So, invite the Holy Spirit to go to work on your behalf. Just keep telling Him, “Whatever You bring to my remembrance from the Word is exactly what I’m going to act on. I’m going to be obedient to every command of Jesus that You bring to mind.”

Sounds simple, doesn’t it?

It is! But, it’s not necessarily easy. Let me show you what I mean.

In John 14, the same passage that we’ve been looking at, Jesus gave us this command: “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

Now, if you’re going to operate in power that means you’re going to have to keep that command, right? In other words, when all kinds of chaos seem to break loose around you, you’ll have to refuse to panic. You’ll have to be willing to say to your heart, “Heart, you’re not going to be troubled and you’re not going to be afraid in any situation and particularly not in this one I’m facing right now. Jesus said not to do it, and I’m going to keep His command!”

“Oh, Brother Copeland, I don’t think I could do that!”

Yes, you can. And when you do, you’ll be on your way to having the first of the three-part power package working in your life so you can receive miracles.

#2 – Speaking the Name of Jesus

I’m telling you, the name of Jesus works. There is far greater power in it than any of us have yet realized. As Philippians 2:9-10 says, God has given Jesus “a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth!”

Every prayer I utter is in His name. My faith is so set on the authority of the Name of Jesus that there are times I just say, “In the name” and the power of God comes on the scene.

In fact, I’ve discovered that the name of Jesus—just the name alone—is effective when spoken by a Word-abiding believer. It doesn’t need a lot of other fancy words to go with it.

Revelation 19:13 says the name of Jesus is the Word of God! So, when an evil spirit is trying to bring sickness, poverty, depression or any other garbage into my household, I don’t have to quote every scripture I know to stop him. I can just point my finger at him and say, “Jesus!” That’s like throwing the whole Word of God in his face at one time!

#3 – Living a Life of Love

The final part of the three-part power package is living a life of love. It’s an equally important part to receive your miracle and experience the power of God in your life and for those around you. Jesus tells us in John 15:12-13: “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Love. That’s the power charge of this whole package. The rest is simply no good without it.

And though I realize that keeping the law of love could be included in the first step we talked about (after all, it is the first and foremost command Jesus gave us), I think we need to talk about it separately because so many believers neglect to do it.

I’m talking about believers who can quote tremendous amounts of Scripture and who may speak the name of Jesus 35 or 40 times a day, yet they’re rough and insensitive to the needs of their friends and family. They’re so busy “serving God,” they don’t have time to serve people. They’re often critical of others in the Body of Christ. And they’ll fuss and fight with each other on a moment’s notice. Strife is their hallmark.

Such folks are not only devoid of real spiritual power, the Bible says they are spiritually foolish.

Look in 1 Corinthians and you’ll see what I mean. There, the Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian believers about their lack of love, saying: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” (1 Corinthians 2:14, 3:1, 3).

In short, what Paul is saying here is that strife will bring you down to the level of the unbeliever. It will dull your spirit until you can’t see or understand spiritual things! Living that way will never invite the power of God or allow you to receive miracles.

You may have been saved 45 years; you may talk in tongues all day long, but if you’ve got strife in your heart and you’re not living by the love commandment of Jesus, spiritual things are foolishness to you. And as long as spiritual things are foolishness to you, Satan is going to do with you just about as he wants to. And not only that but the miracles you desire to perform and the power of God you want to experience will be unavailable to you.

Without living a life of love according to 1 Corinthians 2 and 3, the name of Jesus won’t work. Faith won’t work. Prophecy won’t work. The word of wisdom won’t work.

In fact, none of the gifts of the Spirit will work if you don’t have love! First Corinthians 13 says so!

Do you want to see the awesome power of God released through your life? Then you’re going to have to love one another. You’re going to have to stop arguing and criticizing and start laying down your life—for your wife…and your kids…and your pastor…and even that bunch down at the church who’ve got their doctrine all wrong.

Love is the power charge, friend. You can lay hands on people till you rub all the hair off their heads; you can shout the name of Jesus till you’re hoarse; but if you aren’t obeying the commandment of love, you’re not going to see anything happen at all. God’s power package just won’t work without it.

We’ve put up with this power failure long enough. We’ve whined and cried and begged God to fix it. We’ve done almost everything except what Jesus told us to do. But, starting today, you and I can change all that. We can put this into practice.

We can make up our minds to let the Word dwell richly within us. We can set our hearts on keeping the commands of Jesus. And we can begin to speak His name with confidence and authority. And, most important of all, we can begin to love one another.

Then, instead of asking, “How can we receive miracles,” we can answer boldly—The power of God is flowing right here! Praise God, a miracle is at hand!”

How Faith Works in Your Life

by Kenneth Copeland

A lot of Christians think they understand what faith is. They think that if they’ve read their Bibles a few times, understand the message of salvation and believe that God can heal them (or deliver them or save them), then they are living by faith. They’ve made a decision that God loves them and so they believe they are in faith. They fail to understand that faith is more than that. It is a definite, purposeful act of the heart. It is not a mental exercise. If you want to learn how faith works in your life, then you need to know exactly what faith is and how to develop it.

Understand, accepting something as fact, like God’s ability to heal, for example, is not faith. That’s merely giving mental assent or reasoning with your mind. You can mentally acknowledge that something is true and still never really believe it in your heart.

Real Bible faith is a matter of the heart, and it carries with it God-given responsibilities. Let me give you an example. A man once went to Jesus for some help with his son.

“Teacher,” he called out to Jesus, “I brought my son so you could heal him. He is possessed by an evil spirit that won’t let him talk. And whenever this spirit seizes him, it throws him violently to the ground. Then he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid. So I asked your disciples to cast out the evil spirit, but they couldn’t do it.” (Mark 9:17-18).

Then he challenged Jesus with this statement: “Have mercy on us and help us, if you can” (verse 22).

When the father pleaded for compassion, Jesus threw the responsibility back on him, saying, “Anything is possible if a person believes” (verse 23).

The boy’s father was trying to get Jesus to do his believing for him. But Jesus cannot do that.

Finally the man broke down in tears and cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (verse 24). He was believing in his heart, yet he was having trouble with it in his head. His heart was saying, I believe, I believe, I believe! But his mind was resisting.

Had this man known Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding,” there would have been no problem with his head. He could have trusted more in his heart and less in his head.

In the end, when the father cried out in faith, “Lord, I believe,” he enabled Jesus to cast the deaf and dumb spirit out of his son and the boy was healed.

Jesus will do the work for you, but He cannot do the believing for you. You have to do that.

But remember, heart faith grows out of God’s Word.

If you want to condition your heart to be in the habit of believing, then you must give God’s Word first place in your life. You must feed it into your heart constantly. And you have to realize that the Word is actually God speaking to you…personally. It’s not just a lot of information for your head to carry around.

Then, you must make the quality decision that your body and all its physical senses will never override the Word of God in any given situation.

If your body screams, I’m sick! I’m sick! I’m sick!…don’t allow that natural, physical evidence to be the final authority about what you believe. Go to the Word as your final authority. And the Word says, “By [Jesus’] wounds you are healed.” (1 Peter 2:24).

So abide in the Word and let the Word abide in you (John 15:7). As you do, your faith will strengthen. You will know how faith works and experience the benefits of living the faith-filled life!

Building a Home for Alfred – Part 2

In this video, you will see the house our team built for our long-time Partner Alfred!

Thanks to our partnership with Omega Church in San Antonio, Texas, and the commitment of Tray New, as our general contractor, we were able to build Alfred a brand new home.

It was such a joy to furnish this home with everything – including linens to appliances. Alfred was overjoyed to be in his new home.

Thank you, KCM Partners, for making this possible!

Building a Home for Alfred – Part 1

Over the past year, Texas has been riddled with one storm system after another. From wind, rain, hail, floods and even tornadoes, residents in the affected areas have experienced substantial devastation. In response to storms in San Antonio, our KCM Disaster Relief Team visited KCM Partner Alfred Charles Sr. to see how they could help with home repairs.

Alfred, an 83-year-old evangelist, has been a Partner with us for more than 30 years. Once the team arrived at his home, it was immediately evident that this visit would be different from the others. A large hole had been knocked in the roof and flooring, allowing such significant water damage that Alfred’s home looked completely unlivable.

Our team provided an immediate financial blessing for Alfred, but the Holy Spirit moved on our outreach manager, Steve, to do more. Once he returned to KCM headquarters, he began the process of approval to have a brand-new home built for Alfred.

In this video, see how our team is building Alfred a new home!
